The Lutheran Social Services of New York Alliance
In a series of strategic planning sessions held throughout 2003, the chief executive officers of the Lutheran social ministry organizations in metropolitan New York brought about the formation of a strong alliance with the potential for making the Lutheran expression of the social Gospel felt more effectively in New York. Together with the Bishop of the Metro ELCA New York Synod, Rev. Dr. Stephen Bouman, and the President of the Atlantic District of the LCMS, Rev. Dr. David Benke, the CEO's have committed to working together to support one another to further this aspect of the Church's servant mission.

Lutheran Services of New York Alliance (LSNYA) is the new organization that came into existence as a result of these efforts. The founding member agencies include: Lutheran Social Services of New York, Lutheran Counseling Center , Wartburg Adult Care Community (Mt. Vernon), Wartburg Lutheran Services (Brooklyn), Mill Neck Ministries, Seafarers & International House, Lutheran Disaster Relief of New York, Eger Lutheran Homes and Services, Lutheran Medical Center, Metro Synod, ELCA, Atlantic District, LCMS

T
hrough the active participation of the Counseling Center's executive leadership, the Center has taken its place in bringing about the formation of the proposed alliance. The initial effect will be its involvement in a new program of clinical pastoral education sponsored by the alliance.
